Volunteering

Whatever your abilities might be, volunteering is a really good way of getting involved in your local community, meeting new people and keeping up with interests.

It takes as much or as little of your time as you like and there is something for everyone. For some people it can even lead to a paid job.

You can volunteer in lots of different ways, from helping the homeless and handing out meals, spending time with someone who's lonely or maybe even doing some computer work. Whatever the situation, you can make a difference to other people's lives while developing new skills and gaining experience yourself. Not only that, volunteering can be hugely rewarding and satisfying and is a great way to build confidence.

There are plenty of opportunities for people with all kinds of interests and skills. Often your local parish magazine or community websites will ask for volunteers for particular events or activities. Parish council details can be found on Herefordshire Council's website.

There are many voluntary and community organisations which rely on help from volunteers, to find out about current volunteering opportunities contact the local voluntary action group HVOSS (Herefordshire Organisations Support Service) or Community Action Ledbury. You can search for volunteer roles in your area on HVOSS's online Volunteer Connect.
