Things to do in your community
Local magazines and community websites are a valuable source of information and a good way of finding out what's going on in your local community or to tell people about an activity you might want to put on.
In many places parish magazines are delivered free to your door or you can pick them up at local garages, shops or other community facilities.
A list of contacts for parish magazines can be found on the Parish councils section of Herefordshire Council's website
Churches may also have magazines with activities listed and details of things happening in the local parish.
Many villages, parishes and local communities have set up their own websites, visit Herefordshire Council's website for a list of Parish councils where details can be found. These websites can provide a wealth of information about local clubs and activities, parish and community meetings, local support and services, volunteering, issues affecting the local community and local and community facilities.
Visit Herefordshire Council's Community halls section of their website, for details of the community buildings in Herefordshire ranging from village and parish halls to community centres. Various activities are held in these halls including local fundraising, Young Farmers, parent and toddler groups and Flicks in the Sticks as well as being able to book the hall for your own activity or event.
Libraries throughout Herefordshire have a great variety of community activities taking place, such as Reading groups (book clubs) and Bounce and Rhyme. They have also have many leaflets and posters, about what is happening in your neighbourhood.
You can also search for events and activities going on in your local community or across the county in the What's on calendar. There are also a number of organisations across Herefordshire who run activities and schemes that you might be interested in, go to the WISH directory and look at the sort of services and opportunities they offer.
